The Summer School was organized jointly by the Wuppertal Institute and various universities from Ghana and North Rhine-Westphalia.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>September 2025<br \/>\nHealth Partnership NRW-Ghana continues<br \/>\n<\/strong>The health partnership between North Rhine-Westphalia and Ghana enters its next phase. The project enables healthcare professionals from Ghana to receive practical training at hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, it promotes partnerships between eight hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia and Ghana. In cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute, the program included site visits and exchanges with companies and specialized institutions. At the beginning of 2025, three teams of doctors from the three participating university hospitals in NRW traveled to the partner hospitals in Ghana. The visit included medical training for multipliers, joint operations and an intensive professional exchange. Ghana also sees the circular economy as the way forward. However, the country lacks skilled labor for this. As part of the Ghana-NRW partnership, Ghanaian experts are therefore being trained to introduce a circular economy. The practical program funded by NRW offers them the opportunity to acquire new specialist knowledge and practical skills in the fields of gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesiology and trauma surgery for work in their hospitals in Ghana. The program is the starting signal for an intensive professional exchange between the hospitals to strengthen the health sector in Ghana.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<strong>February 2024<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>New NRW-Ghana health partnership for more medical specialists in Ghana<br \/>\n<\/strong>There is a shortage of well-qualified specialists in Ghana &#8211; especially outside the major cities. The new healthcare partnership between NRW and Ghana aims to address this. It was launched last week. Health stakeholders from Ghana and NRW met in Cologne and planned together how the partnership can be filled with life. A one-month training program for Ghanaian doctors at three university hospitals in NRW will start in September 2024. The competition was jointly organized by seven start-up hubs from Kumasi and the Impact Hub Ruhr.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/NASTECHPOWERSOLUTIONS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASTECH Power Solutions<\/a> was the successful winner. The startup builds small portable solar power generators and batteries from electronic waste, enabling affordable and environmentally friendly power supply, especially for small businesses. The 2nd and 3rd place went to the startups <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iRecycleESI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Irecylce Enterprize<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/embahenfie.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EMB Ahenfie<\/a>. A total of 5.000,- EUR prize money was awarded (1st place 2.500,- EUR, 2nd place 1.500,- EUR, 3rd place 1.000,- EUR).
